I have seen quite a few Albinos in Nigeria.
Anyway this is a youtube clip on Black albinos and it is interesting. I watched a bit of it but i have not got around to watching all of it yet. I am bit worried about watching to much stuff online because BT always seem to complain every month if i go over my broadband allowance. I cannot wait to ditch them when my contract with them expires.
Edited to add:
The link does not seem to be working for some reason but if you go to YouTube and run a search on Black Albinos i am sure that you will find it and you will be able to watch it from there.

Ywould you feel sorry for them? Plenty of Albinos are in Africa and they ain't burning up....they function well just like everyone else.

Yeah,whatever Mez.
I'm talking about the Albino's I have encountered in the West, not in "your" all seeing all knowing Africa where everything is perfect.
Anyway,so back to topic.
So it's clear that African's with significant amounts of melanin can and are getting sunburn.

Lol...you make me laugh sometimes. As i said before, why would we be created in Africa if SOME of us can be intolerate to the sun?? Perhaps God must have been sleeping when it was the turn of some of our people??
You did not say the Albinos you meet in YOUR Western world...you said you felt sorry for Albinos.....which could have been interpreted either ways. So spare me the nonesense insults about my perfect Africa. And why shouldn't it be perfect? I am proud of my turf, and it's perfect to me with all it's imperfectios...
I have yet to meet any Albinos in Africa who moaned about the heat in how it affected them differently to other Africans around them or them leading a normal life. When at School we played together without them running off the sun or rushing off to rub in some creams. Ofcourse the ones in the West would have some issue with the sun...i am not Albino, yet i dread when it's too hot here because it means more sneezing for me and there is no natural wind to counter the heat and humidity. So perhaps they are reporting their experiences in regards to the environment they KNOW rather than what it is like for ALL Albinos worldwide.
You call me arrogant, yet your last sentence shows MORE arrogance than anything FACTUAL.....Melanin comes from the Greek word melano or melanaus which translates as black or those of black pigment(as the Greeks lously described our ancestors) Nobody is made of melanin....human beings are made of oxygen, Carbon and hydrogen...simple chemistry would tell you this. The reason Africans do not get sunburn is because we have a HIGHER concentration of CARBON.....and in the human(the Africans, it's like a liquid matter, unless it's diluted, it does not change it's componate. Therefore, It does not follow that Africans in the HOTEST places in Africa DO NOT sunburn, yet some in EUROPE are sunburning from a meesly 25 or so degrees of heat. Common sense should lead you (if you can calm down about me and let your brains actually THINK) to question your stupid conclusion....unless it was simply meant to pok the tongue at me.
So i am not talking out my arse without having taken everything into consideration....why shouldn't i refer to Africa here? If you are talking of Italians, you refer to Italy or Mongolians vice versa. Ofcourse when studying things that partain to say our genetic make up and how we react to certain things, it's bloody natural that i would refer to the mother land. If you don't like it and thinks i am patronising you, then tough....quite frankly my dear, i do not give a damn.

They suffer?? Did they tell you that they suffer from heat that it affects their lives in a major way that they cannot carry on with their lives on a daily basis?? I have already gone into detail about this in my response to Jet, which you can refer to if you like.

I've never been sunburnt but my skin has peeled (on parts of my body not exposed to the sun) when I have been to Nigeria because it isn't used to the soft water there.
Re: rates of malignant melanoma - I think the 1 in 6 figure given for black people ie people with 'skin type 4' is a bit too high. Also malignant melanoma has a genetic component and can run in some mainly European families.
Re: Bob Marley - as someone pointed out he died from the acral lentiginous melanoma which is the type of melanoma that can affect the non-pigmented parts of African people. It is quite rare.

Once again you stroll into a thread with your usual boring bombast and narcissistic point of view.Sometimes I swear you don't even read what others have said because you cant wait to lay down the gospel according to Mez,coz everything anyone else has to say is shit of course.
By the way never make the mistake of thinking that I EVER need the definition or meaning of a word in English explained or broken down for me....especially by you, that has got to be the joke of the millenium!!
You talk about common sense????
You wouldn't know it if it bit you on the ass!!!

Someone did post a video on this thread about Black Albino's,I forget who(Oh it was you Rachie,I thought it had disappeared),anyway I have seen that video before. It's still available on youtube,it's just that you can't embed it in a thread.
My reasons for "feeling sorry"for Black Ablino's is manifold and born out of experience.Firstly, it's hard enough being African/Black on this planet, never mind the additional burden of white skin and blonde hair!Secondly,I knew of an African albino when I was growing up,she was my mother's friend, she was ostracized by both white and black people as a child and adult, but perhaps one of the saddest things I witnessed was her choice of mate(s),she actively sought the darkest men she could find and all 3 of her children still came out albino, she spoke about this,at length, to my mother but my Mum never really talked about it properly to me until I was grown up.If this woman was so "happy" and "functioning",I doubt she would have cared and tried as hard as she did.
Thirdly,on top of everything else, I know albino's usually have really poor eyesight, which is due to lack of melanin.............but of course I am wrong because apparently Mez has received a dermatology diploma and medical license since I posted yesterday,so obviously everything she says is correct, please ignore anyone who may have had 8 years of medical school and training coz apprarently they are talking shit.
Anyway despite all these obstacles, the fact that AFRICAN albino's can and do function in this world is great and yes I do feel sorry for them for the "specific" things I have mentioned...but as yet I have not heard of a worldwide African albino suicide spike,so even though they are badly "incovenienced"they are made of strong stuff.

@ Rachie - many thanks, I plan to enjoy it to the fullest, it'll be my first trip.

I'm not sure if this response was for me.............so let me just exhale...............
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I have never ridiculed Black sunbathers, neither do I think it's weird. The premise of this thread is do African/Black people get sunburn and the answer seems to be yes.I certainly don't advocate falling alseep in the sun and burning yourself to a crisp like YT does, yes we do need the Vitamin D,its crucial, the last time I properly sunbathed for an hour was when I was in Barbados, when i'm in the States forget it,I can't take more than 10-15 minutes at a time,,it just fatigues me and in tis country the sun is so sporadic I just take it in when I can,coz I know I might not see it for a week.

I don't read? You didn't even answer one point i made in my post and you acuse me of not reading? Whatever miss English.....
You say you don't need any definition of a word in English....lol...you sound like the ******* daughter of a BNP....perhaps thats why your brain is limited....English is a bloody LIMITED language, so if thats the only language you use to explain the world around you, ofcourse it's natural you would acuse me of being narcistic.
You create a thread, and then when someone voices their views, you hit the post because you simply don't like that said person.....lol....one would think we were in a School playground!
Get over yourself......you said YOUR gospel, i said MINE...whats the ****ing big deal??? I backed my argument with information which you can check...yet you ignore it just so you can have a cheap short at me with silly insults.....lol

Reply to a point???
Show me where one was made and I will happily do so.
Yes,English is a limited language, however even with all my skills in this gutter language I have a hard time deciphering your usual gibberish.
Maybe others would like to have a go??? please feel free.
Oh and now I sound like the daughter of the BNP??,well what an almighty and lunatic leap to make but not surprising as this is your usual level of discourse ,so I will leave you to continue foaming at the mouth and converse with others who find you amusing,Me ??I just find you trite and lacking basic respect and finesse.
