Funny cos I was telling someone the other day that I smell a rat. On the surface, he's the BEST African male character I've seen on British TV for a long time. In fact too good - this is eastenders after all and a part of me can't help but wonder what they have up their nasty sleeves. Dude is articulate, spiritual (well, religious....), raises his 'black' - not mixed race!! - son to be respectful, isn't a whitey chaser, intelligent etc.

If they keep him like this then great, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

It shows how starved we are in this country of positive images. This is why we need our own programming written by US.

Alan Jackson was dopey as hell but at least he had an affair with a sista lol.

You know dat!!! won't be long before he seduced siren-like by the clanging of Pat Butcher's earrings and the smell of chip fat behind her ears.


You know what's funny though,they had an episode last week which I thought was so out of order,I actually found mysefl becoming indignant on behalf of chav's.

We know how Eastender's writers like to write about the "lower classes" but I just thought this strand of story-line was just taking the piss..and if I were a Chav and could actually write a letter I would complain,lol.....nah but seriously this is how it went.

Basically,Dawn Miller, Chav Bimbo Supremo,put fake-tan on her baby for a beautiful baby contest.......now I know chav's have reps for doing some ill shit but I just thought that was taking it too far.

News picturesEastenders actress Angela Wynter is being axed from the soap after five years.

The 50-year-old, who plays Yolande Trueman, will be written out of the series in September.

Producers said they had run out of storyline ideas for the character. Angela admitted she was disappointed. She said: "I'm not unhappy to leave as life's about changes, but I'm unhappy about the reasons as you can always write stories for people to act."

Yolande arrived in Albert Square in 2003 as Patrick Trueman's love interest after a holiday in Trinidad.

Her Jamaican accent and assertive attitude made her a hit with viewers. Wynter said she is unable to reveal her exit storyline - to be filmed next month.

But she added: "If I do return I won't be coming back as a ghost." An East-Enders spokesman said she will leave in autumn.

Anyone remember the first black family on the square. I cant remember their names but it was family ie mother father kids etc. Then there was another family but they did last long

Bring back Alan Jackson? What? Why ? Yolande Truman has been the most respectable, responsible, true to life Black character Enders has ever seen. Does she not get any props?

I dont know ANY Black man who remotely resembles Alan Jackson. Or is it merely the fact that he slept with a Black woman in the story line? Did he marry her and have any Black children? What was so great about him guys, I dont get that one.

It was more likely a move to appease the folks who were not too happy seeing a Black man with a YT raising YT kids, it was not some move to promote Black on Black "love". If that were the case they would have written the story of that Black relationship in for the long haul, maybe with some Black kids with a healthy homelife. They just reduced the reliable Black man into meat and two veg, then wrote out his character.

Even Denise' character is better. Bring back Michelle Gales character I say, she carried herself well as far as remember and she was in a relationship with a Black man, (albeit a perpetually dry skinned one).

Think a lot of people settle for whats on tv, feel as though they need common ground to speak on with people and so watch anything thats on to keep in with the in crowd.

Keep away from the box personally.
