to be honest, i've never specifically thought about what i love about being black, it's just something i take for granted. No amount of negativity, whether it be from fellow blacks or others, could make me not love being black or not be proud of being black. But i never really thought about specifics.

YOU ARE NOT DEFINED BY OTHER PEOPLES\' OPINION OF YOU!! ;0)

I love being black American.

I love the way we can take scarsley enough foor to feed on person and feed an entire family

I love our power and determination

I love the we think

I love that there is NO PART of this country that hasn't be touched and moled by black hands.......yall don't hear me.

I love that fact that a black man can leave the streets and enter a board room and THRIVE..woooooooooooo

I love that no matter where you go from California, to New York, to the tip of the US....we all are connected. Doesn't matter the slang, or the local area customs, I can meet a brutha and be like WHAT'S UP BROTHER...and he's WUZ HAPPIN DOG.....and we can be together.

I love that (based on my expereince) every woman, from every country looks at us and licks her lips.....mmm....mmmm...mmmm...smiles and wonders.

I love that we influence EVERY aspect of culture in this country and we only make up 12% of the population.

Woooooooooooooo....if only we all could realize that power.

Hmmmm apart from everything else about culture and traditions it has to be my HAIR,because its unique only to us: Black people. i love my natural hair, its texture, the way i can change it into any style i see fit ect.......

And about my fellow blacks.....its the strength that we have when we areunited, people shake in their boots when we come together.

I love the discipline that is instilled in us from a very young age to respect our elders, our extended families, and the way we always manage tocreatea Little Jamaica, Nigeria, Congo ect wherever we are in the world.

I love the fact that our goodfriendships always turn into a new family, with no bullshit of formalities.

Ohh boy, i think i might go on forever.....enough for now

I love the we are built, the color of our skin, most of all I love the fact that when we chose to educated ourselves we are some of the smartest people on earth.

I love the fact no matter had bad other people try to put us down or knock us down we always come up with our heads above water

I love the fact that we can be at each others throats but when push come to shove we are there for each other no matter where we come from.

I love the fact that we need very little make up if any to look our best.

I love the fact that we intimidate the white race, because they know that if and when we come together there is no stopping us!!!

Much love to my race.blkafro

Ok I would like to talk about my man peter, Peter (taxi driver Mo bay area), i'm sure he won't mind me telling you that he is NOT a rich man. we met Peter outside of the hotel, he reversed and asked us if we wanted a cab. I have to be honest and tell you that his car aint much to look at, and I wasn't really sure about him..

He quoted a decent price and we jumped in, and went to Mo Bay, on the way Peter told us the latest goings on in Jamaica and the latest news, he warned us what part of town to aviod and to be careful of certain people, he even took us to a bank to change money.

When we asked him to return and pick us up at 16:30 in a very busy Mo bay, he was dead and I mean dead on time. We used him quite a few times after that, now this man who barely had two dollars to rub together was always embarrassed to even quote us a price much less take our money.. Can you believe that? becausehe saw us asfriends he would always under quote the actual fare, obviously we gave him the going rate plus tip, but I think this just epitomises the man proud and nuh beggy beggy.

He happily droves us around Mo bay, took us to Rose Hall, helped me get some fantastic deals on some Yard music and he even can you believe it helped me to change some money by using his Id, when i had none..He liked his music but wasn't into slack music..he introduced me to Jah Cure, whom I must confess i'd never heard of..

Anyway on the last day when i arrived at the airport ready to fly home, can you believe that my luggage got left at the hotel. So you can imagine the panick less than three hours to check in and me nuh know weh mi bag deh...

Who do I see as i rush out of Mo bay Airport looking for a Cab to tek mi back to the Hotel, but Peter, man he drove like Micheal schumacher going to and coming back and I believe he would have done it for nothing too.. He apparently had been hanging around the Airport looking out for us, and had been working since early morning to raise enough money to send his children back to school with new clothes.

All i can say is that Peter is a real good example of what Jamaica is about and I have to say he wasn't an isolated incident either, i met many good people in a land where people seh only badness live.. Peter is why i love my people so....and why i love being part of the African family...

IMO..Blacks are the Soul,Heart and Rthyme of many countries...originals...Often others try to copy and evenduplicate our dress wear, hairstyles, speech pattern and diction..But,never an exact replica..all facsimilies..It is in our deeper voices, our ability to emit emotion in speeches..it is in our step..and sway of our stride..Like Maya Angelou says..."Phenomenal"...We can stand through the test of time and against all odds...I love that...

Ialso love that being "Black" emits such deepalmost visceralreactions from others. They eitherexpect us to be cool or bring the fool, depends on the eye of the beholder...

Superficially,I love that our hair texture and feel is very unique..

@ all

Lets keep this about US and positivity. Dont be sidetracked by dubious influences, we are better than that and can ignore these people when they come here. So threatened by the idea of us loving ourselves they would disrupt athread such as this one. I have removed the troublemakers posts and all responses to it. My apologies to m
