good question.
for future reference, whenever you feel lost when the word culture is employed, do not think anything vague like some here who have no clue what culture means post. the following is very simple, and is an all encompassing definition of culture:
when you think culture, think of everything that is man made, as opposed to that which is not. think of nature undisturbed by man, and nature shaped by man for his purpose. think of two fields. the one that is cultivated is culture, as opposed to the one which has not been touched and remains in its natural state.
culture are all those works of mankind through the time he has been around and capable of creativity. think of the physical works of man, and the mental works, over time, that are passed on from generation to generation. that is the general andn unuiversal definition of culture. it is actually very simple.
so in future when you hear people say "they have a poor culture", they mean those people have not done much in terms of human creative potential, ie. the ancestors left very little in terms of human creation that has been handed down to the present.
