Roy Innis, National Chairman of CORE, is alarmed and concerned about a quote by Kanye West in the December 2006 issue of Essence Magazine. In the issue, West is quoted as saying, “If it wasn’t for race mixing there’d be no video girls. Me and most of our friends like mutts a lot. Yeah, in the hood they call ‘em mutts.

Although Mr. Innis was struck by the reference to mixed-raced women as “mutts, he was even more alarmed that Kanye’s statement might be an indication that Black America is slipping back into the self-contempt and self-hatred that he addressed in the l960’s and l970’s. This slide he attributes largely to rap and hip-hop cultures.

In a statement given on November 15, 2006. Mr. Innis states, “ I was one of the pioneers of the concept of Black is Beautiful. That we must be proud of our African ancestry. Unfortunately, the demon of self-depreciation has been the most difficult demon for Black Americans of all complexions to expell. Darker skinned Blacks like Kanye West have had an even harder time accepting Blackness in themselves and in others. I wonder how much we have gained psychologically, since the bad old days of the 60’s, in our appreciation of our Blackness.

w2ell its true in a way.

i there wernt a mixing then half the rap videos would hav no women in it.

Id have no women to run after also.

I have to pose this question though...is it just black/white mixing people are opposed to or would lets say a coolie/negro be just as dissaproved of?

Only the best is good enough....

And the problem is that a lot of black peoplefell in love with Kanye after he made that statement. But why should wemind George Bush not liking black people? He's white, he doesn't haveto. The sad and quite pathetic truth is that most black people don't even like black people. And that's been tested and proven over and over againby scientists. Now,whythe majorityof the people in this raceare seeking love and respect from whites when theydon't even love themselves is beyond me.You don't think that these people are not well aware of the factthat most of us don't think much of ourselves? In fact, whites, Indians, mixed race, whatever people love the fact that black people can't stand themselves because it's just onemore indicator to themof their superiority over us.

For instance, I have this friend, this Indian girl, was watching a film on colourism in the black race.As soon as she finished viewing the film, she calls me and the first thing that comes out of her mouth is, "Aryek, why the hell are black people puttingother black people down for being dark, when they'restill black and darker than most people in the world?" Lol, I just put my hands in the air and said,"Beats me, you go and ask them".

The problem when you say 'US' is you include intelligent people with ignorant folks from the bottoms mindset like theKanye West and other types. Thats how this ignorance stays around everyone, when ignorant types are included asa part of somethingjust because their black ,popular .Whites and other races have people that are not go for their communitybut in some of those communities these ignorant types are not taken seriously.

I don't believe all whites and other racesare againstblacks, thats amisconception. The real problem is having disfunctional blacks in the circle speaking for the black cause, tucked intherecausing problems, like Kanye West just becausehes popular at the moment and said a few things. Many African leaders spend their country into debt leaving people to starve & un-educatedbut these leaders still get elected year after year.In Europe leaders havepressure on them to do right by the people, thats why Africans,Jamaicans,Asians and othersrisked their lives to go to Europe to get education and wealth. The leaders in Europe, North America,China andJapan have to answer to the people. Most African leaders don't even bother to Educate people.

How do we know that this is even true? Maybe it is. Does it really matter what Kanye thinks? It's not news that many Black men prefer light-skinned or mixed women. We know that already.
