A New Day Is Dawning

"Whether we are light, yellow black or what not, there is but one thing
for us to do, and that is to get together and build up a race. God made
us in his own image and He had some purpose when He thus created us. The
why should we seek to destroy ourselves? If a few DuBoises and De
Lissers do not want their progeny to remain of our race, why not be
satisfied to abide their time and take their peaceful exit? But they try
this subtle manner to humiliate and destroy our race? We as a people
have a great future before us. Ethiopia shall once more see the day of
her glory, then why destroy the chance and opportunity simply to be
someone else."/ Marcus Mosiah Garvey, *Philosophy and Opinions of Marcus
Garvey *page 60-61

There is nothing as powerful as an idea whose time has come. The seed
idea of self-actualized collective Black Power is indeed extremely
potent. The very notion of Africans anywhere, black people everywhere
daring to think on this level strikes dread and terror in the hearts and
minds of our oppressors. Self-redemptive, empowering and self-determining ideation on the part of Africans anywhere causes befuddlement and apprehension in the petty minds of brainwashed, self-hating, decultured and discombobulated Negroes. Just as Marcus Mosiah Garvey energized, exhorted and galvanized Africans around the world to think big, plan big and accomplish great things as a unified
African collective by tapping into their latent yearnings and longings
for self-affirmation, self-determination and liberation, so too have a
new group of Africans resurrected the idea of African redemption and a
return to Blackness. Black is back they shout! Let's bring Black back
they say and we have launched a movement to do just that.

Tomorrow in Cincinnati Ohio a small but dedicated group of Africans will
gather to ignite a movement whose time has come. Metaphysically all
things begin with an idea or image. From an idea or image backed by
strong emotion (belief) on the person or groups' part the universe moves
on their behalf. Of course we must take action but in our unity of ideas
and emotions the powers of the universe move to help us actualize our
goals and objectives despite the invariable obstacles and resistance we
will encounter. The basic formula is: energy follows thought. Our ideas
and images produce emotional and physiological reactions within our
bodies which impact our health, our mental well being which cause us to
initiate actions which can either be positive or negative; beneficial or
malevolent.

Tomorrow in Cincinnati Ohio Africans will come together to begin the
arduous process of reasserting Blackness, of aggressively imposing Black
Consciousness into the fore of thought, action, style and being in our
communities. The prevailing pathology of self-negation and
self-destruction we see in our communities must be confronted, negated
and substituted with an ideology and philosophy of not just survival but
one of redemption, resurrection and transformation!

For too long the minstrels, coons, buck-dancers, Sambos, imbeciles,
traitors and anti-African opportunists have held sway on the local and
national scene. These people have been promoted, patronized and oft
times selected by our enemies. Unfortunately they have set the tone and
tenor for the dummied down existence and self-destructive pathologies we
see in our communities. They have been exalted and enshrined as icons
for what it means to be black in AmeriKKKa. So on one hand we have the
Snoop Dog and Fifty Cents promoting drug use, promiscuity and misogyny
and on the other we have people like Vernon Jordan, Colin Powell and
Condoleezza Rice shilling for global white supremacy's New World Order.
"Where there is no vision the people perish" the ancients said. As
Garvey asked at the turn of the twentieth century, "where is the black
man's government, where is the black man's industry, the black man's
army", a new breed of African is emerging, asking where is the African's
courage, vision and will? Tomorrow in Cincinnati Ohio a small group but
growing of Africans will take the initiative to wrestle with the
challenges of priming and unleashing latent Black Power; focusing and
redirecting it in ways that benefit and serve the collective. Tomorrow
is a beginning, a new start. The seeds of African redemption that reside
within each of us are being stirred and energized again. The Cincinnati
meeting is a beginning for real grassroots leadership. This meeting will
bring forth much fruit. It is an idea whose time is come; BRING BLACK
BACK is an idea resonating within the souls of Black folks everywhere.
This is no small thing. It is an effort of DIVINE and COSMIC
proportions. Let us take our cue for the greatest African leader and
organizer in modern times, Marcus Mosiah Garvey who said, " The race
needs men (and women) of vision and ability, men of character and above
all men of honesty, and that is so hard to find." As a good friend of
mine Ralph Stevenson always reminds us, "We are the ones we have been
looking and waiting for."

Brothers and Sisters, get ready; Black Is Back!

"Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled."-- North African Wisdom
