Take A look at

http://amnesty.org.uk/events_details.asp?EventsID=289

Do you see any Black content

Shop around and see what 2007 is all about

Make Poverty History

Save Darfur

When you go to these events you dont see Black people.

Anti-Slavery.org All white club, I emailed them all about black content for 2007, NO REPLY or We cant find any, or we are doing or best to be inclusive.

I think as opposed to talking nonsense on these forums we should use it to rally a plan to change this crap. If everyone here agreed on how to approach these poeple do you know they would have to listen? But it is our fault, we would rather stay safe in our "i am a revolutionary because i save africa on blackchat" than use Blackchat to organize real action

I have come across a few film dealing with slavery

Healing Passage (USA)

Sankofa (USA)

500 Years Later (USA)

Black mountain Lion: Sierra Leon(UK)

sorry not Roots because we dont own that either or Amistad

None of these films are in there programs, they do ever want 2 give us a platform, they still believe they can speak for us and save us (from them). They get away with it because we prove them right by staying silent. We dont orgainize, but some clown would reply to this and say something negative, as opposed to act in our collective interest. this is our gloabal sickness. And i am from Africa and it aint much better there, save Ethiopia where the only thing they show is Ethiopian tv (but only EThiopia).

The newspapers are all cowards, what can we do. But chances are this plea will be ignored and we will go on reply to things that dont bring change, the compaining among the choir about the priest.

here are some emails, put pressure on them

http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/maritime/contact.asp

notice how even some of our leaders half speak "We need to control our history" and leave it there, point to those things where we control and make the world deal with it. "We need to teach slavery in School" a version which explains us to white people?

Stand up and do something today, 2007 is an all white party and we were never invited

A. We didnt get invited

b. We are too busy working

c. We dont give a dam about our own history

Well i think enough of us care, i wish we would use this forum to discuss plans of action that will bring results. I know i just posted some gossip about Haile Berry in the next forum. But lets have some balance. serious people should discuss what we can, should and are willing to do. We do have power, we can write an protest giving them a list of programs, films, scholars they should include. And demand they start dealing with the community and not ignoring us. You see TV, Jewish Holocaust over and over again, World War I, World War II, Some ship that got sunk 400 years ago. We pay taxes, they profit from us in their society so why are we so shy to lobby and rise up?

I take it the question is why are these campaigns only attended by whites when they should be black?

And demand they start dealing with the community and not ignoring us

The fact that you got no reply speak volumes and is comparable withmy experience of whitey and their 'helping us' campaigns.

Also we were weren't invited might give a slight clue.

But mostly because they are RACIST - YES RACIST. They love to PRETEND that they care but I'm sorry the only time they appear to do that is if their backs is up against the wall as in the South African Apartheid 'cause'. The writing was already on the wall when 'songs' and 'marches' started to pop up from nowhere CLAIMING to be 'SUPPORTING' us all along.

Anyway Sundiata BNV is not a 'movement' for such things I'm afraid but a discussion fourmwhere we can talk all we like but action I'm afraid is usuallyleft uptosomewhere else like ligali.

Having said that there are other organisations that do take the lead in such matters and are only attended by majority blacks.

Perhaps you are just focusing on the white ones?

Sorry but the main reason is that many black people are not as politically inclined as I would like them to be. When I have rung up my bredrins before about these sorts of events they could not give a shit, they would rather go to a rave or a garage night or something, and don't see how it effects them.

P.S You are wrong about Darfur. At the two rallies I have been to in London, over 80% of people there were from Sudan or Darfur, with some white people who care more about Africans than many black people there as well. At the Darfur rally I could barely see a white face.

In my experience of political marches/movements the people most likely to attend are africans, or continental africans. West Indian brits are not frequent at these sorts of things, why I could not say, but people of Continental african origin are far far more likely to take an interest.

It is no good blaming people spending their time doing things, and helping others. Amnesty international do a great job, and so do the anti slavery charities.

I have noticed that the Ethiopian coffe thing is just about Ethiopians, South Africa day is just about South Africans, Darfur people from Sudan. I dont really believe that many white people care about Africa beyond their own interest.

Amnesty is an all white agenda, yes naturally they do some good, just look at there website and look for our face. it is our face in their story. When i was back home you see NADA in terms of help, what you do see is them with the landcrusiers driving up and down to the expensive hotels. Or flying in white experts to talk about the issue.

The rest nothing to do with us.

My issue is forums are not used correctly, i have been on some forums that actually do the work. To date i have not seen any organization with a program that changes the root of the problem with a real solution. YOu either get the boycott group which says "do support them support the nothing we are doing" or the well meaning local group which has no means of touching the masses (at least they try)

The issue is we dont link our struggles. I have heard of ROV, and they something for Victory. And they seem to be on the correct path. They have a campaign they work with these "charities" they also do something constructive which i havent seen anyone else doing they actually have a resource link which points people to African products and information. I think this is key. Their site needs a touch up. This is who we should support but again i suspect their might be a white face in there which is why they can speak to the charities like Anti-Slavery.

Time to move beyond rhetoric, and dont leave the work for someone else to do. for example how long does it take to sign the action plan they are proposing?

oh please, there are plenty of African organisations fighting theses causes, the problem is they are not given the same amount of publicity.

Here is a list of the various organisations doing the neccessary works

www.afford-uk.org/resources/database/search/?sAction=viewall

However at time there can be an elemet of slackness amongst us. For example a few years ago me and my dad attened a march through central London to protest against the Sharia Law in Nigeria. So many invites were sent out, yet so few people came. Even the Nigerian High Commission diddn't trun up.

y should they show up? did they show up in Hausa land to protest G Bush election?

the debate is about Slavery 2007, an no there are not many dealing with it. Afford is 1 organization developing business in Africa anyone else?

I realize black people r a lost cause, u went to protest Islamic Nigeria and people didnt support you. WHY The hell should they? Should they support the pro-west dictators like Mr Ethiopia Melwes, or didnt you show up when Ethiopia protested that US agent?

u bring up so many amazing points that we as black people really need to start addressing...it is SCARY what is going on...

everydayNGOS are being formed with the "lets save Africa" platform..NO BLACKS ALLOWED

now tell me...if they were truly interested in helping..eradicating poverty..then why is it they make an effort to make blacks feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed....

im telling you...i believe u 100% because when i attend these meetings i feel so

out of place...not a blackperson in site...except the african child with a big belly and flies all around him in their advertisement

in fact...some of these organizations are filled with indians, chinese, arab...i mean..everyone else is welcome to discussed issues in Africa except blacks...now...WHY IS THAT?

ur absolutely right...the root cause of the issue is not going to be addressed because they dont WANT to address it....to goal is to make Africa and Africans totally dependent and subservient

"tell the african you are here to help him, give him food and shelter, give him money to go to school and learn a trade....he will forever be thankful and greatfulto the great western nations who cared enough to bring him out of his own ignorance and poverty"
